Behzad the Artist — Ibiza

Behzad Behpour, known as BehzadTheArtist, is a painter and live performance artist whose practice brings together painting, movement, music, digital imagery and video projection. His work has evolved from an early foundation in realism and impressionism toward an increasingly abstract and experimental visual language.

Behzad developed his artistic career through years of living and working in New York and later Hamburg, before establishing his studio and gallery in San Juan, Ibiza. His work maintains a connection to his Persian roots while embracing a dramatic, vibrant and contemporary approach to painting and performance.

At the centre of Behzad’s practice is an energetic live-painting concept: the artwork is created in front of an audience and becomes part of the event itself. Depending on the venue and occasion, his performances can incorporate digital elements, video projection, music and dance, transforming the act of painting into an immersive visual experience.

During his years in Ibiza, Behzad has performed at and collaborated with a wide range of clubs, restaurants and cultural venues, including Cova Santa, Woomoon, Blue Marlin, Akasha, Namaste, Las Dalias, B12, Sunset Ashram, Element, Etereo, San Miguel and Beach House, among others.

Behzad is recognised for his distinctive techniques, expressive use of colour and willingness to experiment across traditional painting and live multimedia performance. His practice is designed not simply to produce an image, but to create a shared moment between artist, audience, music, space and movement.

His work has been exhibited in Ibiza, including the 2023 “Hippie Knights” exhibition at Club Diario de Ibiza, which featured a live-painting opening with music and performance. Contemporary coverage described his development from realism and impressionism toward abstraction and highlighted his experimentation with live painting, digital elements, music, dance and video projection.

Behzad is currently available for live-event bookings, private and corporate commissions, weddings, restaurants, clubs, galleries and bespoke art experiences. He also offers painting workshops in Ibiza, including guided experiences in his San Juan studio and outdoor painting sessions inspired by the island’s landscapes.
